Colgate University, a top-ranked liberal arts college, is seeking an Advancement Researcher to play an integral role in supporting the university’s fundraising efforts.

Colgate University enjoys a strong tradition of philanthropy and engagement and recently announced the Campaign for the Third Century, a $1 billion campaign to fund the bold and ambitious Third-Century Plan. On an annual basis, more than 56% of Colgate’s alumni engage with the University through philanthropy, volunteering, or engaging at online and in person programs, including signature events like Reunion that draws in more than 2500 alumni and guests. This tradition of philanthropy paired with strong levels of alumni affinity position Colgate well for even greater success, as the Vice President and his team work toward the $1 billion campaign goal.

At this pivotal moment in the University’s history, Colgate is seeking an Advancement Researcher to help discover, identify and evaluate gift prospects in support of our gift officers’ fundraising efforts. The person in this position will be responsible for both proactive and reactive research projects, and analyzing and synthesizing data. They will research new prospects, create and maintain profiles for various prospects including trustee candidates, and be well versed in industry trends and current research practices. The successful candidate will possess advanced interpersonal and communication skills, an inquisitive mind, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and have a strong desire to continuously learn. Accountabilities
Accountable for the discovery, identification, and evaluation of a predetermined number of current and future leadership and major gift prospects. Ensures the timely and accurate completion of research on new parent prospects. Accountable for the creation and maintenance of trustee candidate and other profiles.

This position offers the opportunity to work remotely within the states of Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island and Virginia. Professional Experience/ Qualifications
Advanced interpersonal skills, including clear written and verbal communication, are essential. Candidates must be capable of working collegially and effectively with a diverse group of colleagues on a daily basis.

The ability to handle confidential material with utmost discretion is critical.

Fluency in computer technologies, information systems, and relational databases is required.

Must be well organized, detail oriented and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications
(3) years of experience in a higher education or nonprofit fundraising setting is preferred, with additional experience managing multiple projects.
