UMSL GLOBAL

Job Description

Job Description
This position might require some domestic traveling, evening / weekend hours and offers the possibility to travel internationally

General Information
UMSL Global is on a mission to bring the world to the University of Missouri-St. Louis. We cover everything from international admissions and international student support, to study abroad and global engagement. We serve a growing population of several hundred international students, as well as faculty members and staff. With more than 50 years of successful campus internationalization, we have a lot to be #UMSLproud of.

The next step in achieving our mission is to bring an increasingly large and diverse class of international students to UMSL. We're looking for an individual who is passionate about international education and providing great student experiences to help us meet these goals.

Position Description
In this role, you’ll be processing and evaluating international student applications. You’ll convert international credentials into their U.S. equivalents, advise newly admitted international students, work on international transfer credit cases and help international applicants navigate the admissions process.

This role sits on the UMSL International Admission team and reports to the Director of International Admissions and Global Enrollment Resources. As part of UMSL Global, you’ll work alongside other international education professionals engaged in international student recruitment, international admissions and international student support. We are a tight-knit team dedicated to helping international students to achieve their academic and career goals, but we are not the only ones helping international students at UMSL. You’ll also work with the Office of Admissions, the Graduate School, UMSL Athletics, the Registrar’s Office, Information Technology Services, faculty members, advisors and others to help UMSL grow and support our international student population.

As an International Enrollment Advisor, you’ll be focused mostly on timely admissions processing, but you will also track and communicate with international applicants throughout the admissions process using the Slate CRM system. You will also have the opportunity to represent UMSL at college fairs, high schools, and community colleges, virtually and in person. You will also have related duties and projects assigned to you by UMSL Global leadership.

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Work closely with your fellow International Admissions teammates to manage day-to-day tasks related to international admissions and transfer credit.
• Review, analyze, and process international academic credentials, evaluating for quality and potential for fraud, taking appropriate action if necessary.
• Track and support international applicants throughout the admissions process using the Slate CRM system.
• Build and foster relationships with units across campus to support international admissions processes.
• Become an expert in international admissions, transcripts, and transfer credit, becoming a trusted source for students and colleagues across campus.
• Work with Slate, PeopleSoft, and other systems to keep student records updated and accurate.
• Work as part of the larger UMSL campus community to support University recruitment efforts and identify potential ways to improve the shared application process.
• Serve as the admissions liaison for international student-athletes, working with coaches and Athletics administrators to help meet the unique recruitment needs of international students applying to an NCAA Division II school.
• Be willing to take on the role of DSO for the university and perform other duties as assigned.

You’ll be successful in this role if you have:
• An interest and talent for systematic application processing with high-volume periods.
• A strong belief in the transformative power of international education and the desire to provide international students with a high level of service.
• Flexibility, can-do attitude and high level of service-orientation.
• Ability to process international student applications largely independently and/or to train quickly.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work longer hours during peak seasons while enjoying the balance-out in less busy times.
• Eagerness to learn and grow, personally and as a contribution to a great team.
