Job Summary
The David Eccles School of Business seeks a full-time Graphic
Designer to join the Marketing + Communications team. This position
will help maintain and oversee the conceptualization,
visualization, and production of ongoing and concurrent design
initiatives; create engaging and on-brand graphics for print and
digital media; communicate and coordinate with off-site vendors;
and manage project details and deadlines. The position will create
graphics and designs for nearly every department in the school, but
will work directly with the marketing account managers on the M+C
team to get needed information for designs and campaigns.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time. Day. M-F 9 am- 6 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions
Meets with clients initially to determine needs, budget and
deadlines; meets subsequently to discuss changes and finalize
project.
Researches and studies ideas related to each project;
conceptualizes original work to communicate intent of
project.
Develops cost estimates for clients by balancing the needs of the
project with the available budget.
Designs a wide range of artistic material, e.g. catalog, poster,
brochure, billboard, etc. using sophisticated computer equipment
and software programs.
Produces art for assigned project by following a pasteboard
technique on the computer, and finalizes in a manner that is ready
for printing.
Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy,
selects style and size of type, chooses color/s and arranges layout
based upon available space.
Completes pre-press check by ensuring colors and saturation are
exact, overlap properly and do not leave gaps, and ensures inks are
solid and in the correct place.
May hire outside vendors including photographers, illustrators
and/or production artists to meet particular styles of photography,
or illustration.
May keep department computer hardware and software running and
up-to-date by trouble shooting problems and reviewing new
programs.
May mentor or act as supervisor to junior designers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, or a related
area, or equivalency; five years of related experience and a
portfolio at the time of the interview; demonstrated effective
communication skills; the ability to work under pressure to meet
deadlines; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service
required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the
essential functions of the job as outlined in the position

PREFERENCES:
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
The successful candidate will have a strong design aesthetic,
display great attention to detail, and understand the importance of
brand consistency.
Strong communications skills to regularly present design concepts
and project progress to team members, accounts, and leadership.
Preference will be given to candidates who are open to and expect
design critique yet display the expertise and assurance to maintain
control of projects and deadlines.
An aptitude for independent working and creative problem-solving
are a must for successful self-management.
An ideal candidate will be highly organized with an ability to
multitask on several concurrent design projects at various stages
of completion and review.
The candidate should display a passion for the work of the David
Eccles School of Business and a desire to help further the Eccles
School’s goals and initiatives.
