Full-Time Faculty Position Opening (Voice) Department of Music, National Taiwan Normal University

General Information:

The Music Department at the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) is seeking highly qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor (or above) of Voice position.

Duties:

Teach applied music at undergraduate and graduate levels in voice; teach academic courses related to voice performance such as song literature, diction classes, opera performance; and fulfill other departmental needs as required. The appointee will be expected to: demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, create an innovative curriculum for a broad range of students of varied identities and backgrounds who seek to explore a range of educational opportunities and career pathways, recruit and retain students of exceptional promise, and develop and maintain a visible national and international profile as a performer and a pedagogue. The appointee will also be expected to: teach courses in English, supervise graduate students’ thesis, attend faculty meetings, and serve on faculty and university committees as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in vocal performance, or equivalent diploma; demonstrated ability to empower, advocate for, and value a broad range of students of diverse identities and experiences, as shown through pedagogy, mentoring, and related activities; demonstrated expertise and experience in teaching by having presented master classes, maintained private studios, and/or served as a faculty member at institution(s) of higher learning; evidence of potential for a national and international profile as a performer and pedagogue.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience of teaching voice related courses at college level.

5. Course curricula and syllabi, statement of teaching experience, or original copies of research projects.
6. Concert portfolio with a minimum of two public performances and at least one solo recital, including copies of concert programs, video files and links of the video performances. Concert dates valid between May 6, 2019 and May 5, 2022. Candidate selected by the department search committee will be asked to provide a scholarly writing (or thesis) for the interpretation of the repertoire from one of the above concerts.
7. Applicants applying as prize winners of international competitions are required to submit a minimum of three solo recitals with no less than 60 minutes of music. 8. A copy of doctoral dissertation or degree recital performance video is required for applicants with doctoral degrees received within the last two years and without a full-time teaching position at any higher education institutions.
