    Department Summary
    The Lundquist College of Business (LCB) is one of seven schools housing academic programs at the University of Oregon. The College works cooperatively with other UO Colleges and Schools to prepare students for a broad range of career paths. There are approximately 50 full-time faculty members, 45 instructors and adjuncts, 35 administrative positions, and 30 staff members.

    The Master of Science in Sports Product Management (SPM) program produces graduates that are capable of managing product as a member of a product creation team (e.g. product development, product marketing, product merchandising, costing, materials, etc.) within the 800 plus sports product companies in Oregon and beyond. An SPM degree differs significantly from an MBA in that it has fewer finance and accounting courses, but a significant amount of product sustainability, innovation, consumer-focused marketing design, and strategy courses.

    Position Summary
    We are seeking an outstanding teacher with extensive sports product industry experience to expand our faculty. Responsibilities include teaching courses that cover multi-functional excellence within the sports product management process and could include Costing, Supply Chain, Brand Strategy, Product Development, Merchandising, and Go-To-Market Planning. In addition, this instructor will have a role in advising and managing the experience of on-site and online student cohorts. Candidates must demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching and possess meaningful, forward-looking experience in the area(s) of sports product management.

    This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that will teach courses in the following areas:
  • Product Creation
  • Brand Strategy
  • Sustainability
  • Cost Accounting
  • Financial Management
  • Strategic Management
  • Marketing
  • Merchandising & Commerce
  • Supply Chain

    The successful candidate will teach a minimum of three courses to both the online and onsite cohorts (totaling 6 courses per academic year).
    Minimum Requirements
    This opening will be filled at one of the following ranks based on finalist qualifications and experience.

    Instructor: Master's degree in business administration or related field from AACSB accredited institution.
    Senior Instructor: Master's degree as stated above and 6 years of teaching courses post receipt of Master's degree

    Lecturer: PhD in directly related field
    Senior Lecturer: PhD and 6 years of teaching courses post receipt of PhD
    Professional Competencies
  • Ability to direct Sports Product Management student team projects
  • Ability to develop and lead industry and/or student workshops
  • Ability to network, build relationships with diverse constituencies (students, faculty, staff, administrators, donors, and business community) between Eugene and Portland.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both theory and application at the graduate level
  • Ability and commitment to work effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise projects emanating from the Sports Product Innovation Lab.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree.
  • Experience in teaching graduate-level courses.
  • Previous demonstrated success in teaching a course within the product process.
