Position Summary
This incumbent is an experienced solutions builder, a roll-up-your-sleeves learning experience designer and technology solutions consultant who is well-versed in the integration of educational technologies in the design of hybrid learning experiences and relevant instructional design. In this position, this incumbent is an architect and leader in creating and improving learning products. The incumbent will steward and work directly on instructional design projects that utilize expertise in learning theory, instructional technologies, and human performance technology to enhance learning for adult learners and general stakeholder that CCE serves. Incumbent will partner closely with a team of learning program managers, trainers, and specialists across the college to create learning products such as courses, workshops, modules, and trainings that enable improved experiences. This partnership includes performing appropriate needs assessments to identify learning objectives with CCE stakeholders, designing, testing, and rapidly iterating instructional content that is right fit for target audience. Incumbent will also explore development of knowledge and performance observation assessments to evaluate effectiveness of learning and training. A people leadership and growth mindset attitude is essential for success in this role - which includes participating in CCE team development activities, learning activities, and a proactive role in learning about agile and hybrid/scrum frameworks. This incumbent is an experienced relationship manager and will develop, nurture, and maintain strong business relationships with CCE stakeholders, collaborate across different fields of experience, and keeps an open mind in defining and implementing learning project plans using innovative and interdisciplinary approaches. The incumbent must be able to both strategize and executive innovative learning solutions in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment at CCE that is balanced with the overarching CSU system university ecosystem. This incumbent is a learning solutions consultant who thrives in a daily collaborative environment who aims for operational excellence and process improvements. Responsible for the end-to-end stewardship of learning solutions and EdTech-related solutions consultancy and/or deployments, this incumbent will lead end-to-end complex projects which entails working with cross-functional stakeholders of DevOps, BI/Data, Cybersecurity, UI/UX, learning providers, and CCE stakeholders, which can include CCE internal/external customers, clients, and affiliates. The incumbent will perform a variety of highly skilled assignments with concentration in learning solutions and related EdTech integrations that is sustainable for CCE stakeholders, customers and clients, and considers short-term, mid-term, and long-term impact for learning outcomes. This incumbent will also focus on solutions efficacy and service outcomes using visual infographics and data analytics to help communication with customers and partners. As necessary, this incumbent will consider solutions and their relevant modernization of CCE process flows, and CCE service flows that align with CCE change values, industry operational excellence standards, industry process improvement standards, adapted agile approaches, and CCE business continuity.
FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $10,792 per month

Hiring Range: $4,372 - $7,500 per month

Department Information

The College of Continuing Education (CCE) extends the mission of the university by increasing access for non-traditional learners. With a primary expertise on serving adult learners, CCE provides programs and services to individuals and employers year-round, unbound by traditional semester schedules and formats. CCE serves a hybrid student body that extends beyond California, serving over 80,000 learners annually through in-person, hybrid and fully online workshops, courses, conferences, certificate and degree programs.

Minimum Qualifications
To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems. Further progress within this classification is based on department need and work assignments requiring higher levels of skills and knowledge.
Required Qualifications
EXPERIENCE 1. Bachelor's degree in learning design, learning science, instructional design, educational technology, or similar field in applied computer science, human computer interaction, and/or applied information technology. 2. Minimum 3+ years' combined experience in designing hybrid learning experiences, online instructional activities to support adult learners, teaching or training experience. 3. Experience in the integration of relevant technological tools for Hybrid and HyFlex learning and/or learning services delivery. 4. Demonstrated project management skills including planning work, managing details, end-to-end communication, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, using time well, working with stakeholders, to deliver reliable results with operational excellence. 5. Growth learning mindset is essential in this role with demonstrated passion for and progressive learning in current and new innovations and future directions in designing learning experiences/learning sciences/learning engineering and instructional design in varied modalities and interdisciplinary approaches. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES 6. Knowledge of and ability to uphold continued learning of the California State University's commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work and learning environment and commitment to uphold them in solution considerations, service delivery, and sustainable process improvements. 7. Knowledge of and ability to uphold for continued learning of regulations and guidelines for developing American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant digital resources. 8. People leadership and end-to-end communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal communication abilities, including a strong foundation in English grammar with the ability to build, maintain, and strengthen working relationships. 9. Demonstrated experience developing self-paced eLearning curricula, storyboards, job aids, online tutorials, and assessments, which includes authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and scrum tools such as Miro. 10. Knowledge of and ability to learn CCE-managed resources and/or University-managed technology tools which includes Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and Moodle; Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Microsoft SharePoint; Customer Relationship Management (CRM) such as ServiceNow; Microsoft 365 tools such as Teams. 11. Demonstrated ability to communicate difficult concepts and processes to stakeholders in hybrid environments using clear and simple language and visuals. 12. Ability to prioritize in complex, hybrid predictive and scrum framework, fast-paced work environment with consistent delivery on commitments, with great organizational skills with exceptional follow through and precision with attention to detail in a fast-paced, learner-centric, service management-focused, business-minded, and higher education continuing education environment. 13. Skilled in innovative and proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise integrity and sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations. 14. Ability to quickly research and incorporate subject matter expertise to provide sustainable learning solutions, optional short-term, near-term, mid-term, long-term recommendations, and considerations to enhance EdTech-related stakeholder service deliveries. 15. Ability to understand simple and complex operating procedures and underlying technological elements in order to use and triage stakeholder needs with regards to digital resources, and relevant enterprise solutions (e.g., Cloud) used in learning settings. 16. Ability to provide and receive project direction and project stewardship to and with stakeholders, which can include technical operations service providers, learning program providers, Subject Matter Experts, and other CCE internal/external stakeholders, clients, and customers. 17. Ability to work with and train students and peer-mentor colleagues involved in DLTS projects using agile approaches, scrum-based framework, and adapted IT Service Management (ITSM) practices for delivering quality customer service. Preferred Qualifications
18. Master's degree with interdisciplinary specialty in human computer interaction, learning design, learning science, instructional design, educational technology, or similar field. 19. 5+ years' experience designing online Hybrid, HyFlex instructional activities to support adult learners and/or combined experience in teaching and training. 20. Experience with and/or knowledge of Canvas, Moodle, Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, Microsoft 365 tools, basic web development concepts such as HTML, CSS, and familiarity with open-source technologies, Cloud, and Machine Learning concepts are a plus. 21. High comfort level in a hybrid working environment, learning new technologies such as Miro for storyboarding, or ServiceNow for learning support communications. 22. Ability to write and/or willingness to learn how to write use cases and assessments that evaluate diverse levels of cognitive and knowledge dimensions. 23. Experience and/or familiarity with using data from assessments that infer learners' performance to evaluate the effectiveness of learning designs, including engagement or completion data. 24. Knowledge of and/or familiarity with how to apply universal design for instruction and learning (UDI, UDL) principles in online Hybrid, HyFlex learning designs. 25. Experience with and/or familiarity with using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and use case-based approaches.
