Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.

 

The University currently offers the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Arts in Medical Science enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.

 

PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:

The Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will lead the corporate and foundation relations activities for Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. S/he will identify, cultivate, develop proposals, and manage relationships with corporations and foundations on behalf of PNWU. Reporting to the Director of Development and Strategic Initiatives, s/he will partner across the university to proactively identify and secure funding for all institutional priorities. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and write proposals and supporting documents in grant solicitations
  • Identify and research potential corporations and foundations with mission fit for PNWU
  • Provide progress reports, in collaboration with the faculty, staff and controller’s office to foundations on funded projects
  • Manages a portfolio of foundation and corporate grant relationships, building and maintaining strong, ongoing donor relationships
  • Work with faculty, development, and finance teams to help ensure that all grants’ objectives and requirements are met, including timely submission of grant proposals, agreements and reports
  • Work as the Development liaison with faculty, staff, and students to identify and secure philanthropic grant funding
  • Serve as the liaison with granting agencies in interpreting policies, and procedures
  • Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
  • Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree

 

Experience:

  • Required: Three years of experience in grant proposal writing or fundraising 
  • A proven track record in grant writing to private and corporate foundations

Strong writing and verbal communication skills; ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases; ability to demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail; strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills; ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct workflow; ability to problem solve by analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; ability to demonstrate a donor-centered attitude of service in maintaining strong relationships; and ability to demonstrate a passion for mission-driven fund development.
