The Department of Chemistry and Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (CCBE) at the University of New Haven invites applications for a non-tenure track lecturer position in chemistry to begin in August 2022. The Department consists of 15 full-time faculty (10 chemists, 3 chemical engineers, and 2 biomedical engineers). The department offers BS degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering, MS degrees in chemistry and biomedical engineering, and PhD degrees in chemistry and biomedical engineering through the PhD program in Engineering and Applied Science.

 

The successful candidates will be expected to teach chemistry courses that support the B.S. Chemistry program, the chemistry graduate program, and potentially, the new B.S. Biochemistry program that Chemistry and Biology jointly administer. This position is for a faculty member qualified to any or multiple of the following courses: General Chemistry, Quantitative Analysis with lab, Instrumental Methods with lab, General Chemistry Laboratory, Organic Chemistry Laboratory, Solid-State Chemistry, and Biochemistry. Candidates with a PhD degree in any fields of chemistry or related areas will be considered. Candidates in the underrepresented groups of STEM fields are encouraged to apply. The candidates may participate in institutional and professional service, such as advising students, contributing to assessment activities, or assuming course coordination roles.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in Chemistry or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and with the appropriate background to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses
  • Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in developing and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level courses
