The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Arizona campus is hiring a Flight Curriculum Coordinator to support the Flight Department. Embry-Riddle's Prescott Campus is respected worldwide for cutting-edge instruction and training for tomorrow’s aviation, aerospace, security and intelligence leaders. Prescott is a mile-high city and its climate reflects seasonable weather excellent for flying. Daytime averages are 80°F in the summer and 45°F in the winter. At 5,000 ft. above sea level, it boasts a mild climate, clean air, pristine wilderness areas, and nearby national forests. The university is a small, private, residential university in the mountains of Arizona with approximately 3,500 students. Staff/faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of our campus. It is located 100 miles north of Phoenix and 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon.

The Flight Curriculum Coordinator shall maintain, develop, and update flight department training syllabus and support documents and systems for certification and non-certification courses on behalf of the Flight Standards Manager, Assistant Chief, and Chief instructor. The Flight Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the 14 CFR part 141 approved Training Course Outlines and there implementation in ETA. This includes both the Ground School and Flight Syllabi. Secondarily, the Flight Curriculum Coordinator will provide the same function for non-certification courses, internal training courses, support documents (electronic and otherwise), and develop and create support materials such as plans of action and presentations for the above materials.

Job Duties:
  • Maintain and update Flight Department 14CFR Part 141 approved Training Course Outlines
  • Maintain and update Flight Department Courses within ETA or other electronic flight training system or databases
  • Maintain, update, and develop non-certification courses and syllabi
  • Maintain, update, and develop supporting documents (electronic), such as plans of action, homework, presentations, etc.
  • Identify trends in check rides and student performance to determine syllabi deficiencies and implement updates and changes as required
  • Attend weekly Flight Training Manager meeting with Chief Flight Instructor & Staff meeting with Department Chair
  • Prepare for and attend weekly Student Progress Briefings with Chief Flight Instructor and Department Chair
  • Attend Standards meetings with check instructors.
  • Monitor Instructor/Student pass rates paying particular attention to trends.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Chief Flight Instructor.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree - Area of Study: Aviation or Education

  • One to three years of work related experience

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:

Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications.
