Statement of Job:

The Adult and Higher Education program is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach Marketing Training and Adult Education (HRD 601) for our Fall 2022 Semester that begins on August 29, 2022. Courses are asynchronous online using Brightspace as our learning management system.

Marketing Training and Adult Education (HRD 601) acquaints the student with the purpose, organization, function, methods, tools, and techniques of marketing within the setting of adult education, continuing education and training programs. Attention is given to the development of a customized marketing plan, focusing on the research and planning phases of the plan. This is an applied course in which students will spend a significant amount of time participating in “hands-on” learning experiences, working in teams.

The USM Adult and Higher Education program is a practitioner-oriented master’s degree for early and mid-career professionals in adult and higher education, community education, non-profit leadership, employee development, health services, and other organizational settings. Our program believes that personal and professional change is best accomplished through lifelong learning. We believe that attention to individual goals, reflective and experiential learning, and opportunities to apply skills prepares students for professional leadership roles in adult and higher education. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center (s). USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Qualifications:
  • Prior adult teaching, training, or professional development provider experience.
  • Master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education or related field
  • Marketing experience in public/private sector organizations preferred.
