Job Summary:

This position is a member of the College of Engineering Research Services Team within the Office of Research located within the Dean's Office. The Research Services Team has administrative responsibility for all aspects of extramural research support for 8 academic departments and over 30 centers within the College of Engineering and reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Research Administration. This position is responsible for advising and supporting pre-award sponsored research activities for faculty and staff in the College of Engineering and proposal review and approval. Activities will require interacting directly with investigators, faculty/staff, department/centers, campus administrators, and sponsors/agencies to ensure that University and funding agency rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines are followed.

Responsibilities:

Manages research administration activities from proposal preparation through closeout on behalf of a school/college/division. Reviews and approves proposal submissions, contract negotiations, project setups, compliance, and/or financial reporting. Develops and oversees implementation of operations and strategic planning to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements within a school/college/division. May manage a programmatic unit and/or personnel.
  • 10% Executes research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance on behalf of a school/college/division
  • 15% Reviews and approves programmatic transactions spanning the life-cycle of sponsored projects to ensure compliance with institutional and/or sponsor policies and procedures
  • 15% Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
  • 25% Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit
  • 15% Provides training to faculty, staff, and/or administrators within the unit regarding policy, procedure, and/or execution of sponsored project administration
  • 20% May have authority to submit proposals, agreements, or invoices to a sponsor on behalf of the principal investigator or project director

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications:

Experience working effectively with faculty and staff and strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to be flexible in work assignments and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with meeting deadlines; independent problem solving and analytical abilities. Comprehensive working with Microsoft Excel and Word and with database management tools. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, collegial team environment.
