Department Summary
The Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP) Office is within the Enrollment Management unit within Academic Affairs at CSUSB. The OTP office consist of the following program areas: Orientation, First-Year Experience, Transfer Student Success, and Campus Tours and Visit Center and is responsible for developing and implementing welcome and transition programming for newly admitted first-year and transfer students, as well as their family members.
Orientation and Transition Programs offers purposeful and dynamic programming that meet the needs of our diverse student population through partnerships and collaboration across campus divisions. Transition programs are designed for first-year and transfer students in order to equip them with the information needed to better manage their transitions to the university and help set them up for student success here at CSUSB. These transition programs prepare students for academic success, provide knowledge of university resources, encourage involvement in student activities, and help build meaningful relationships. Each orientation and transition program are constructed to minimize anxiety and to promote positive attitudes about student success on campus.
Job Summary
The First-Year Experience Coordinator is responsible for the overall implementation and coordination of first year experience programming. Directly reporting to the Director, Orientation and Transition Programs, this position will coordinate, manage, and implement programs, initiatives, and experiences that facilitate successful new student transitions and integration into the college campus environment.
The First Year Experience Coordinator will utilize student development theory, transition theory, and program evaluations to facilitate efforts across the university to increase retention and student success rates of all first-time / first-year students. Specialized efforts will focus on first-generation students and the particular needs of this population. The incumbent will assist with the coordination and implementation of programs and activities offered through Orientation and First Year Experience; assist with the coordination of all first-year experience, orientation, transition, and retention programs; create and present developmental programs for students; assist in the development of other office initiatives; and collaborate with a variety of faculty and staff across the university to ensure a seamless transition for new students. The incumbent will be a contributing member of the Orientation and First Year Experience team and will serve as a valuable team member and resource within the Division of Academic Affairs.
Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree highly preferred from an accredited university.
- A minimum of three years of relevant post-bachelors experience with orientation / transition program development, and providing lead or advising student staff.
- An understanding of student development and transition theory.
- Three years post-master's university orientation experience preferred.
- Experience with outcomes assessment and analysis is preferred.
- Experience working independently and self-driven.

Salary
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,304 per month
Classification Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120 per month
