Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
- Repair and maintain all food service kitchen and line equipment including stoves and ovens, walk in coolers, dish machine, coffee makers, soda machines, etc., as well as residential washers and dryers, stoves dishwashers, etc.
- Assist in minor HVAC repair. (Position duties: 15 % office, 85 % field).
- Install, maintain and repair coffee machines, stoves & ovens, food warmers, meat slicers, mixers, dish machines, refrigerators & coolers, ice machines and various other pieces of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Inspect and perform preventive maintenance checks and implement necessary repairs on various pieces of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork and records as required by the department.
- Engage, direct and supervise outside vendors and contractors as needed.
- Purchase, install and maintain residence appliances including refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, etc.
- Assist other trades as needed.
- Assist with rain leak emergencies including minor roof patching, sandbag filling and placement, etc.
- Assist HVAC technicians as available to perform minor AC and related repairs.
- Demonstrated work history level experience and knowledge of maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Ability to prioritize and complete all work orders in a timely manner with minimal impact on kitchen staff and other members of the campus community.
- Ability to read, write and speak English in order to communicate with all levels of the campus community as well as vendors and other business contacts.
- Demonstrated work history experience of HVAC equipment.
- Refrigerant certification.
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment at all work locations including field locations, FM shop and the break area.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safe working practices as defined by industry and
- regulatory standards.
- Ability to work in a variety of physical environments including on ladders, man-lifts, etc. with heights up to 30 feet.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices as defined by the California DMV and University policies.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated work history experience and knowledge of maintenance and repair of residential kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Valid California driver’s license and clear, unrestricted DMV record; a DMV report will be required prior to and periodically during employment.
- Successful candidate must have refrigerant certification prior to hire.
- Different work shifts:
- Standard hours of the university are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Please list work schedule if different: 7:00 am-4:00 pm
- Ability to respond to on-call emergencies during non-business hours.
- Alternate/extended shifts may be periodically required for events support, equipment repair, work scheduling conflicts, etc.
- Participation in after-hours response rotation as assigned.
- Background check clearance required before employment.
