Description:

This position is responsible for directing the Student Support Services-Teacher Prep grant program which includes the management of all federal requirements and the development and provision of all required services.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee adherence to procedures established for the efficient and effective delivery of services in compliance with the grant; incorporate strategies to ensure project objectives are met to include maximum participation in grant funded activities by eligible students and communicate processes for identifying and selecting students eligible to participate in the program. Responsible for directing the overall management of the designated SSS programs in planning, goal setting, and operation of the grant funded program. Maintain internal and external relationships to advance mission of programs.
  • Manage staff to include hiring selection, assignments, training, and evaluating performance. Assist in the development of program curriculum, coordinate and assist staff in establishing and maintaining an academic coaching and Bridge program for participants. Provide direction for intervention specialist and other staff in fulfilling objectives. Supervise the project staff. Schedule and conduct staff in-service training activities. Participate in TRIO conferences and workshops for professional growth and development. Coordinate with faculty, advisors, and staff in the development and implementation of project activities. Develop methods for communicating grant objectives to community members, project staff and the college as a whole.
  • Ensure the program operates in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations by staying abreast of U.S. Department of Education policies and grant terms/conditions. Oversee the preparation and monitoring of fiscal and technical reports. Review and approve all expenditures related to the program. Manage and submit the federal APR and respond to all reports required by the U.S. Department of Education, TAMUCC WEAVE, BCP, Maestro and PASS monthly reports. Develop methods to evaluate and monitor effectiveness of the program through pre and post-tests and the collection, compilation and verification of project data. Prepare progress reports related to program activities for the Department of Education and the college.
  • Promote the services available through TRIO Student Support Services by presenting on-campus. Facilitate awareness of the TRIO programs by marketing the program and promoting program services through informational presentations to faculty, staff, prospective students from the TAMUCC population and transfer students, and/or by distributing program literature at student functions, strategic locations across campus, and elsewhere as appropriate.
  • Administer the Program Budget in compliance with EDGAR guidelines. Maintain accurate project records in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Maintain the security of all student records. Responsible for managing student progress reporting. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work.
  • Ten years of related experience to include: 5 years of full-time TRIO experience, preferably as a provider of direct services to Student Support Services Student. 5 years of experience coordinating or managing federally funded programs at secondary-educational institution including Budget development and management, monitoring of compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, personnel supervision, and completion of mandatory performance reports.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills. Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in related field.
  • Substantial coursework (college or professional development) focused on strategies that enhance the academic performance and promote college persistence and graduation of low-income, first-generation, disabled, and/disadvantaged student.
