Haverford College invites applications to our available full time, exempt, benefit eligible Associate Director of Admission position.

The Associate Director is involved in all aspects of the general admission process: recruitment travel, interaction with prospective students and their families, interviewing, application review, and the selection of candidates. This position also holds responsibility for the oversight and coordination of one or more project areas, as assigned by the Dean of Admission and depending upon specific skills and interests.

The position requires an appreciation for the value of a liberal arts education; strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to relate to a broad range of constituents (students, parents, alumni, high school counselors, etc.); an appreciation for and sensitivity to a variety of backgrounds and traditions from which students may come; an interest in and facility with issues of access, diversity, and inclusion; and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.

Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities:

Specific list of responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:
  • Travel within a defined territory to visit high schools, attend college fairs and conferences, and interview students.
  • Reading and evaluating applications and participation in the committee process for selecting candidates.
  • Interviewing prospective candidates on-campus.
  • Conducting information sessions.
  • Answering admission inquiries from prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and others.
  • Planning and implementing various on and off-campus programs and initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with high schools and community-based organizations.
  • Participating in strategic and long-range planning efforts, and assisting with their implementation.
  • Support of other day-to-day admission processes.
And may include, but not be limited to:
  • Serving as liaison with the Department of Athletics, coordinating athletic recruitment in the admission process
  • Overseeing and supporting on-campus programs for prospective and admitted students
  • Supervising Admission Counselors
  • Overseeing one or more application rounds
  • Working with alumni admission volunteers
Line of Report: This position reports to the Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid.

Education, Training, & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 5+ years of experience in admission or related fields or 4+ years of experience in admission or related fields and a master's degree in a related field
Special Requirements :

This position requires travel, which may include evening and weekend hours.

Possession of a U.S. Drivers' License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check are required.

All faculty and staff (including contract workers) who are employed or engaged by Haverford College, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and provide proof of vaccination (to include a booster dose when eligible), unless an exemption from this policy has been granted as an accommodation or otherwise.
