Job Description

This position will use computer-aided design ( CAD ) systems, cabinet vision, Alpha Cam, create code to prepare drawings and blueprints. These documents will guide the creation of many projects produced within the carpenter shop for all campus projects.
Assist carpenters with loading the code into the machines, and work thru issues.
Also assist in the supervision of a large group of trades working on routine maintenance and small to medium sized construction projects.
Frequent interaction with executive leadership team to provide guidance on project decisions as well as consistent updates and modifications as needed.
Maintain shop tool inventory.
Many decisions made are independent of direct supervision.
Lend leadership and mentoring to large staff of skilled trades (electricians, carpenters, electronic tech).

Qualifications

Associates degree and/or experience in the construction / facilities maintenance field. Specifically CNC programming.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Knowledge of materials and basic cabinet construction/specifications.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of CNC operations of wood, composite, and plastics
  • CNC, cabinet making, millwork experience.
Responsibilities
  • Review machining processes to determine the best available method to fabricate parts with the greatest program, set-up, and machine efficiency.
  • Design and create 3D models and generate machine code using Cabinet Vision and Alpha Cam software.
  • Provide machining expertise to clients in the planning of new jobs as well as problem solving and efficiency improvements.
  • Continually evaluate and learn about existing software and hardware to effectively use the software’s abilities. Keep backups organized, up-to-date and available.
  • Support CNC, laser, 3D printing machines.
  • Maintains and directly supports wood production area by determining, monitoring, and updating production priorities; managing staff in the absence of the supervisor; and providing operational assistance.
