Job Description Summary

Support the Refugee Training Program with the intake, registration, assessment, and support of students and potential students. Provide operational and technical support in the assessment and placement of students and in the collection and reporting of data.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four to five years of related experience or required coursework/ certification and/or specialized skills/ training. Or a combination of relevant higher education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Multilingual (English, Dari and Pashto)

CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed.   • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external diverse populations.
  • Prepare all paperwork for registration and testing.
  • Register and assess students while following testing and program guidelines for administering, scoring and interpreting assessments
  • Assist students by providing information to guide students appropriately
  • Serve clients in both one-on-one and group settings
  • Keep up to date with all program offerings
  • Respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries and contact with the general public; provide information, answers questions, and alleviates fears and frustrations
  • Provide program information upon request to community agencies and organizations
  • Assist instructors with classroom preparation and supplies
  • Help to create a supportive, motivating, and respectful environment for prospective and enrolled students
  • Collect and record program and student data using required systems. Scan, upload, and report on data as needed.
  • Curate and maintain the accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Assist the leadership team with day to day student support and clerical tasks
  • Work as a team member with the Program Specialists, Program Coordinators and Program Directors
  • Due to the broad nature of this function, specialists work in a fast-paced, stressful environment filled with unexpected interruptions and challenges. Flexibility and the ability to think independently are essential as is the willingness to perform physical work such as carrying and delivering materials to off campus classes.
  • As a team player, assists in other TLSS efforts when needed. Undertake and complete special projects and other assignments at the request of the coordinator, director or dean.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements

  1. Must be available 3-5 days a week including Thursday and Friday between the hours of 10:00a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the grant.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  4. A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
