Purpose of Position
The HAILE College of Business at Northern Kentucky University invites applicants for a non-tenure track Professor of Practice in Esports Management, beginning fall of 2022. The position will require candidates to teach courses within the Esports domain and oversee the Varsity Esports team.

About the NKU Esports Team:


NKU Varsity Esports
The NKU Esports program launched in 202o with the development of the university’s first varsity team (Rocket League). The university currently supports nearly 30 players on varsity teams in Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch, and Valorant. NKU Esports is a member of NACE, NECC, and Esports Collegiate. The teams play from the “Sandbox” – the NKU Esports Arena that includes 11 gaming stations and a shoutcasting studio. NKU Esports has been sponsored by the NKU Honors College since its inception and the next Director of NKU Esports ill develop an annual budget and sponsorships that are independent from the Honors College. Primary Responsibilities
The specific position will have responsibilitiessplit between an academic focus and the NKU varsity Esports team oversight.In this role, you will collaborate with units across the university and build positive relationships with new and existing corporate partners to drive Esports partnership development initiatives.

Academic Responsibilities
Northern Kentucky University values quality teaching above all. Professor of Practice faculty members are expected to teach up to 2 classes per semester. However, there are no research requirements. All faculty members are expected to provide service to the department, university, or the community. This service can include but is not limited to curriculum development at either the undergraduate or graduate level, participating in department or university committees, and community outreach. Academic duties include:

· Assist in the long-term strategic plan for the growth and development of the Esports program
· Develop new courses and maintain course quality for all courses in the Esports academic degree.
· Assist in the development of marketing and communications materials for the Esports program.
· Recruit and retain students.
· Develop experiential learning and internship opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in Esports.
· Build and maintain relationships with key community and corporate partners to enhance academic program
Director of Esports – Team Responsibilities:
· Oversee the ongoing development of the varsity Esports program, including sponsorship development, scholarship development and management and facility supervision.
· Provide guidance and input on games selected for varsity competition.
· Provide ongoing input on design of Esports facility and selection of equipment, as well as preventive maintenance of inventory.
· Conduct coaching and instruction activities during training, practice and competition.
· Coordinate team travel, practice, and competition schedules.
· Develop and execute camps, clinics, and promotional events.
· Ensure team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations
· Assist in the fiduciary responsibilities of the Esports program including scholarship and program budget.
· Supervise content, streaming and production of Esports streaming platform
· Maintain a commitment to ensuring a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative environment for those involved in the video games and Esports community.

Qualifications
Qualifications : Candidates should have multiple experiences in Esports, sports business, and/or digital media. Preferred candidates include those who have:
  • Prior experience in Sports Business and Esports business.
  • Experience either leading or participating in Esports events or games.
  • Experience running events in areas related to video games and Esports, such as competitions, tournaments, streaming, and game jams.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and management at a senior level across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Scholarly interests and/or work experience that could foster relationships with local businesses, industries, or government agencies.
  • Interest and/or experience with experiential learning opportunities, such as supervision of undergraduate research, internships, service-learning, etc.


Minimum Education: Master’s and commensurate experience/practice in a field relevant to Sports Business and Esports. Minimum Education Master's Degree Preferred Education Terminal Degree Appropriate to Discipline
