Description:
The Associate Athletic Director, under general direction, oversees, manages, administers and maintains programs in support of TAMUCC athletics.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and implement a comprehensive athletic compliance
program, including NCAA and Southland Conference rules education
and interpretations to staff, coaches, boosters and university
support staff that are external to the Athletic
Department.
- Serve as a member of the Director of Athletics'
cabinet.
- Represent the university in the area of NCAA legislation and
governance.
- Develop strategic plans and evaluate potential compliance
conflicts and/or issues. Lead the university's efforts to
investigate and self-report violations of NCAA and conference
rules.
- Coordinate and implement an effective athletic compliance
monitoring system to include playing and practice, financial aid,
recruiting, amateurism, and other aspects of compliance.
- Manage the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Athletic Compliance
Policies and Procedures manual and provide rules education,
interpretations, and legislative updates.
- Liaison to various offices on campus including Financial Aid,
Admissions, Registrar's Office, and Residence Life.
- Provide oversight in the areas of Amateurism, Recruiting,
Eligibility, Financial Aid, Awards and Benefits, Playing and
Practice Seasons.
- Assist the University Registrar's Office and the Center for
Athletic Academic Services in the certification of initial
eligibility and continuing eligibility of
student-athletes.
- Oversee athletics financial aid processes including National
Letter of Intents, renewal and non-renewal of awards . Verify all
outside scholarships received by student-athletes.
- Approve and monitor all prospective student-athlete official
and unofficial visits.
- Prepare and complete NCAA, Southland Conference, State &
Federal reports including but not limited to the following: APR,
GSR, Sports Sponsorship & Demographic, EADA, student-athlete
waivers, institutional waivers.
- Consult athletics internal operations staff with regards to
compliance standards in the areas of Business Operations, Athletic
Medicine, Equipment Room, and Human Resources.
- Serve as primary compliance contact for the Southland
Conference.
- Manage the compliance office budget.
- Hire, supervise, direct, and evaluate the Assistant Athletic
Director for Compliance, interns and student workers.
- Provide oversight in the area of student-athlete name, image
and likeness, including monitoring all disclosures consistent with
Texas state law and facilitating periodic education to coaches,
student-athletes, administration, and boosters.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Four (4) years of experience in athletic
administration.
- Additional education and/or experience may be considered as a
substitution for the minimum requirements to include.
- Eight (8) years of experience or
- Associate degree and six (6) years of experience or
- Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience
or
- Master's degree and two (2) years of experience or
- Eight (8) years of experience or
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Advanced knowledge of NCAA rules.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal
and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience in athletic
administration.
- Experience in drafting NCAA waivers and violations.
- Experience conducting rules education presentations.
- Working knowledge of Cai, LSDBi, Eligibility Center and/or
FrontRush software.
