Summary of Job Duties:This individual is responsible for operating the Service Desk, performing computer operations duties, and is responsible for distribution and retrieval of University technology-related equipment; assist with technology support requests. The position reports to Manager, Customer Support.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

Minimum qualifications include an associate’s degree in a technical or business field and one year of experience working in a technical or business field. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.

Help Desk or Customer Service experience is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist faculty, staff and students who walk into the Technology Support Service Desk, answer Technology Support Service Desk phone, check e-mail and voice mail and log requests into the UAFS Incident Management System. Troubleshoot issues, reset password and/or help faculty, staff or students with resetting passwords using the UAFS password reset system. Contact users if more information is required. Updates the incident reporting system with resolution information. This occurs daily.

  • Schedule, select, deliver and retrieve a variety of audio-visual equipment; load equipment into carts and deliver to appropriate location, assist faculty and staff in proper operation of audio-visual equipment. Complete equipment requests including data entry. Maintains audiovisual equipment in proper working order through preventative maintenance and performs minor repairs on equipment. Operates audiovisual equipment when requested. This occurs daily.

  • Assist faculty and staff in resolving technical issues with technology in the classroom. This occurs as needed.

  • Checks technology-related equipment (laptops, monitors, hotspots, etc.) in and out to faculty, staff and students upon request. Maintains records and logs of materials and equipment used. This occurs as needed.

Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-time attendance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with preparation of equipment for transfer to state M&R. This occurs as needed.

  • Assist PC technicians with service calls. This occurs as needed.

  • Pick up and deliver tapes to server rooms for backups. This occurs as needed.

  • In the event that the nightly operator is out will process Banner jobs and backups as per schedule. This occurs as needed.

  • Update and maintain technology support inventory. This occurs as needed.

  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment operation and maintenance requirements.

  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of production items.

  • Skills to operate and perform maintenance on audio-visual equipment.

  • Ability to work effectively and communicate with a diverse population of students, staff and faculty

  • Ability to schedule audio-visual equipment for classrooms.

  • Ability to train employees in the use of audio-visual equipment.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, to gather and analyze information skillfully.

  • Ability to provide technical assistance to users.

  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing

  • Ability to bend, climb, kneel and lift as required.

Special Job Dimensions:

Extended hours and on-call duty occasionally required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Lifting, carting, pushing or pulling heavy objects up to 50 pounds occasionally required. Must be able to work on ladders. Must be able to work effectively under pressure in a busy and demanding environment. Routine work hours are 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Salary Information:

$28,000-$30,132/year
