Overview
The Division of University Communications works in partnership with Catholic University faculty, staff, students and leadership to develop communications and marketing strategies and to implement campaigns that engage our audiences and elevate the university’s stature. University Communications highlights the important messages, stories and people of Catholic University, while managing and maintaining the University’s reputation and brand identity.

The director of creative strategy is responsible for bringing The Catholic University’s brand promise to life through visual, verbal, audio and experiential methods. An innovative, forward-thinker who is able to generate concepts and execute engaging creative deliverables in multiple media, including video production, publications, digital/interactive, social media and physical environments. This position will oversee the creation of high-value assets to energize our key audiences, including prospective students, parents and alumni. The creative director will utilize in-house talent, campus partners and external vendors to establish a strong brand identity for The Catholic University.


Responsibilities
Lead the creative vision and strategy of brand and recruitment touchpoints; in collaboration with the Divisions of Enrollment Management and University Communications. Oversee design staff and various vendors in the timely production of assets and deliverables for campaigns and projects. Develop compelling video features to drive engagement with key audiences in partnership with external vendors. Develop creative concepts for campaigns and marketing initiatives. Partner with leadership and campus stakeholders to enhance and elevate creative expression in all aspects of university design. Execute design strategy for traditional and digital media.


Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree and at least ten years (10) of experience required in video production, design or related field. Higher education marketing experience is highly desirable.

● Strategic, critical thinking to understand business needs and audience desires to produce compelling campaigns
● Takes a profound interest in the world around you - culture, music, film, sport, art, entertainment
● Approachable, collaborative, results-oriented, problem-solver who can both provide and take direction well
● Strong communication skills, both visual, written and verbal
● Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills
● Must be able to juggle several projects at one time
● Thrives in a creative, collaborative environment
● Lead talented in-house and vendor creatives to produce deliverables
● Ability to write and edit copy, or manage copywriting, preferred
● Creative leader who inspires those around them to think different and try new approaches to produce results
● Oversee print and production budgets, ensuring high-quality deliverables at minimal cost to university

Demonstrable skills and experience in the following areas:

● Creative problem solver able to generate multiple concepts for any given project
● Ability to present concepts, gather buy-in and adjust based on input
● Familiarity with video production, editing, and motion graphics
● Strong design sensibility and eye for detail
● Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications and other creative software platforms
● Production of website UI and interactive experiences
● Understanding of brand identity and maintaining standards across a large institution
● Mastery of design principles: typography, color, balance, hierarchy, pattern, scale and application across various media
● Demonstration of creativity and design with a portfolio representing a variety of projects
● Grounded in accessible, user-centered design methodology
