Introduction (Description of School/College/Dept/Program)
Women’s & Gender Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a “Department-like Body” (DLB), an interdisciplinary unit that serves as a tenure home. WGS has full and joint-appointment faculty from humanities and social sciences departments. WGS offers a BA and minor, a graduate certificate, a Master’s degree (MA), and two coordinated graduate degree programs, a WGSMA/MLIS and a WGSMA/MSW.



Job Summary
This position involves administrative work and student advising within the Women's and Gender Studies (WGS) undergraduate program, including student recruitment and retention, and advising undergraduate majors and minors (maintaining academic records for majors and minors). The position manages and compiles undergraduate assessment, supervises WGS internship placement (both through units such as Women's Resource Center on campus but also in the larger community) and conducts exit interviews with graduating undergraduate students at the end of the semester. The undergraduate coordinator conducts classroom visits to recruit new students into the WGS academic program and represents WGS at campus event (e.g. L&S Majors Fair). Other possible administrative tasks may include assistance with course scheduling and curriculum planning.

The person in this role is expected to work closely with the Chair and the Office Manager as needed and attend the monthly DLB meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the humanities or social sciences· Experience working in higher education· Demonstrated commitment to Women’s & Gender Studies and/or feminism

Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree or graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies or a related field from an accredited institution in the humanities or social sciences· Experience of academic advising· Experience supervising student internships· Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills· Experience teaching undergraduate students
