Summary
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, are seeking an Associate Administrator II to oversee multiple service lines to ensure programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. This position provides operational management and guidance to the administrator and Chairs especially in the areas of Clinical Operations. As a senior strategy advisor to the Department Administrator, assists in the planning, organization, direction, evaluation, and improvement of health care operations, research administration and operations programs, human capital efforts, and fiscal accountability. The Associate Administrator II will assume significant oversight into the Department/Center’s strategic planning and operational execution with the capacity to succeed the Department/Center Administrator in the case of an absence. This position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
The ideal candidate would have knowledge or experience in an outpatient setting with patient revenue cycle and all components of the patient experience.
Job Duties
• Assists in the development of strategic and short-term planning processes and facilitates the obtainment and validation of data needed for strategic decision-making.
• Serves as a strategic resource to Administrator to shape and advance strategic priorities and initiatives especially in clinical operations.
• Coordinates efforts to define priorities, report on progress, and ensure that the priorities are integrated into decision-making.
• Works collaboratively with the Administrator to develop a framework to effectively communicate and implement key performance indicators and strategic metrics that identify the current state, craft the path to the future state and provide presentation of project status compared to milestones.
• Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and approving hours worked of at least 3 employees.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and recommends process improvements to department budgetary and financial policies and procedures.
• Assists in generating and reviewing monthly financial reports and distributions in SAP.
• Monitors departmental accounts for funds availability and appropriate expense transactions and makes recommendations to the Administrator.
• Assists in the development of Business Plans, State of the Department Presentations and Strategic White Papers.
• Assists the administrator with implementation of operational decisions in Clinical Operations and Education.
• Collaborates with the administrator and chairs on short and long term strategic planning for the departments regarding operations and new program development. Communicates all goals on a regular basis and adjusts workflows in Clinical Operations as needed.
• Accountable for the monthly and quarterly reporting to the Administrator regarding Chair goals in Clinical Operations.
• Accountable for workflows in Clinical Operations.
• Meets with faculty and provides accounting and financial information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Five years of relevant experience.
- MBA or MHA
- Experience in a clinical / healthcare setting.
- Experience in SAP and CUBE
- This position will also assist in mentoring staff and professionalism and a strong work ethic around job accountability is needed.
