Summary  

The Center for the Study of Complex Systems (CSCS) at the University of Michigan is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct complex systems research and teach one undergraduate course per semester (two total for the academic year). CSCS is a broadly interdisciplinary center within the College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA), more info here: https://lsa.umich.edu/cscs.  The Fellow will create independent research projects related to their particular field of interest which may include computer science, mathematics, sociology, epidemiology, economics, physics, biology and political science, among others. This position is for one year, beginning August 29, 2022, and may be renewed annually for up to three years.

Responsibilities*  

The Postdoctoral Fellow will create independent research projects related to complex systems in coordination with their faculty research mentor and teach two undergraduate courses per academic year. They will be supported to develop research projects in their areas of interest, including support for travel expenses to an annual professional conference or training workshop. Specific duties will include:

  • Preparation of academic papers and analyses for publication
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Teaching two undergraduate Complex Systems (CMPLXSYS) courses per academic year
  • Participation in CSCS seminars, workshops and core group meetings
  • Attendance at professional conferences

 

Required Qualifications*  

PhD or equivalent in a field related to Complex Systems such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Information, Data Science, Epidemiology, Economics, Sociology, Physics or Political Science, among others. 
 

 

Desired Qualifications*  

The successful candidate will have experience in complex systems, a demonstrated interest in the field and the ability to teach complex systems courses such as agent-based modeling or nonlinear dynamics.
