Position Purpose:
This position exists to provide administrative management and
leadership for multiple academic programs/disciplines and serves as
a member of the leadership and management teams. This includes
developing and continually improving these programs, as well as
managing resources and personnel effectively to meet program
outcomes. The position holder is also responsible for working with
other college personnel to provide college-wide leadership in
developing and achieving the college’s strategic priorities. This
includes participating on college and system committees and task
forces and leading college initiatives. Finally, this position
requires engagement with other educational institutions, community
organizations, legislative governing bodies, and other external
stakeholders to meet the college mission and in accordance with
collective bargaining agreement provisions per statewide and
Minnesota State guidelines.
Position Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative management and leadership for multiple
academic programs/disciplines, credit and non-credit programs and
alternative delivery programs including online.
• Develop and continually improve assigned programs, as well as
manage resources and personnel effectively to meet program
outcomes.
• Responsible for working with other college personnel to provide
college-wide leadership to achieve the college’s strategic
priorities.
• Participate on college and system committees’ and task forces and
lead college strategies.
• Engage with other educational institutions, community
organizations, legislative governing bodies, and other external
stakeholders to meet the college mission.
• Create and engage workforce partners to review and assess program
relevance and secure resources to offset costs.
Minimum Qualifications: (expected to have to enter job)
• Master’s degree.
• 3+ years of higher education administrative experience at the
Associate Dean level or at least 3+ years of progressively
responsible experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and
inclusion.
• Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diversity
of college students, staff, and faculty.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and academic
excellence.
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and communication skills, as well
as public presentation skills.
• Experience in the areas of leadership, planning, development,
staffing, budget management, and supervision.
• Experience in analyzing multiple datasets and resources of
information to inform recommendations.
• Evidence of ability to deal with demanding and high stress
situations, multiple priorities, and varied situations
simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications: (desired but not expected to have to
enter job)
• Earned doctorate or ABD.
• Knowledge and commitment to fulfilling the mission of a community
and technical college that is student centered.
• Knowledge and understanding of higher education accreditation,
federal and state higher education laws and regulations and student
records.
• Record of leading innovation and organizational change as it
relates to curriculum, programs, and student services.
• Experience using data-driven evidence and proven practices to
analyze problems/issues and implement solutions.
• Experience being able to apply strategic thinking and strong
execution skills across various forms of education styles.
• Demonstrated success in building and maintaining partnerships and
relationships across various stakeholder groups.
• Experience being able to delegate, collaborate, and promote
consensus in accomplishing the college’s strategic plan.
• Experience being able to create trust, teamwork, cooperation, and
cohesion among faculty, staff, and administrators.
• Experience working in a unionized college or university
setting.
