POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in McIntyre Library beginning July 11, 2022.  The working title for this assignment is Assistant University Archivist and Records Manager with an official title of Archivist I.  This is a renewable assignment, contingent on performance and funding. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.  Also required are excellent written and oral communications, general knowledge of American and Wisconsin history, and general office technology skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A master’s degree library and/or information studies, with an emphasis in archives and/or records administration, and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

DUTIES:

Special Collections and Archives Department Public and Technical Services

A.1.   Respond to reference inquiries.

A.2.   Provide consultation services for researchers using departmental holdings.

A.3.   Assist patrons using equipment for viewing and duplicating department holdings.

A.4.   Assist unit head in developing instructional materials, class sessions, tours, and programming.

A.5.   Support department-initiated exhibit research, design, and creation.

A.6.   Monitor, update, and support department web and social media presences.

A.7.   Process new archival collections, and update existing archival collections, in accordance with department practice and archival standards.

Special Collections and Archives Department Operations

B.1.   Maintain records associated with patron and staff use of department holdings.

B.2.   Coordinate inspection and return of department holdings to appropriate storage locations following all use.

B.3.   Coordinate the transfer of department holdings through the Area Research Center network using Alma (collections catalog) and other tools as necessary.

B.4.   Compile statistical information supporting library and department reports and projects.

B.5.   In coordination with the unit head, research and develop policies and procedures governing department operations.

B.6.   Recruit, supervise, and manage student employees.

University Records Management

C.1.    Develop, in coordination with the UW-System, new and revised records management schedules and guidelines.

C.2.    Support institutional implementation of records management best practices.

C.3.    Respond to inquiries, potentially through site visits, to assist departmental implementation of records management policies.

C.4.     Assist with the day-to-day operations of the University Records Center.

Professional Growth

D.1.   Attend meetings and workshops relevant to developing and maintaining the skills necessary to upholding the highest quality of work associated with the position.

D.2.   Review relevant current library, archival, historical, records management and/or genealogical literature related to the core functions of the position.

D.3.    Demonstrate a commitment to the University’s equity, diversity, and inclusivity goals across all functional areas.

THE UNIT: UW-Eau Claire libraries include the main campus McIntyre Library and the Barron campus branch library. We are a team-based organization consisting of 9 faculty, 2 academic staff, and 16 university staff.
