Our new Athletic Director will embody those traits, leading by example, influencing with purpose, energizing with excitement, and building our Athletic programs through personal initiative. The Director of Athletics’ responsibilities are opportunities for leadership and vision. The Athletic Director will be an active member of the University’s Leadership Team and will work closely with other leaders across campus, as well as the university’s external community, to generate the kind of meaningful relationships and excitement that will support our athletic programs through participation, funding, and engagement.

Leadership Responsibilities:

The Director will provide leadership and administrative skill in the following areas:

  • Engage with and cultivate alumni athletic relationships that inspire committed fundraising and supportive opportunities.
  • Represent and exemplify the Athletic Department and the university through interactions with external constituents, supporting both in various professional and community organizations and events and furthering the university’s public interests.
  • Assure robust involvement, community engagement, and leadership development opportunities for a diverse population of student-athletes; confirm these opportunities address institutional diversity, equity, and engagement priorities.
  • Exhibit core competencies in the areas of leadership and vision, strategic planning, and effective and efficient administration of the Athletics Department, including oversight and financial literacy in the preparation of annual budget proposals and reports.
  • Supervise and motivate Athletics Department staff through value-oriented hiring, training, mentoring, guidance, evaluation, discipline, and promotion.
  • Create and stimulate an inclusive environment dedicated to recruitment, student academic success, retention, and graduation through partnerships with Enrollment Management.
  • Work closely together with the President, Vice Presidents, and other university leaders to support and implement a comprehensive vision for a virtue-based culture of athletics consistent with the university’s mission.
  • Serve as an ambassador to sponsors, parents, friends/donors, and alumni, cultivating partnerships that capitalize on the value these stakeholders bring to our programs’ and our athletes’ success.
  • Participate in, and contribute to, university, MIAA, and NCAA meetings and committees, and other duties as necessary to achieve outstanding results.

Experience and Skill-Set Preferences

Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience with a collegiate Athletics department or commensurate experience. Master’s degree and experience with NCAA Division II athletic department compliance and rules education preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective and motivational interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills.  Marketing, leadership, and fundraising experience necessary.

Salary:

Annual salary of $120,000. Package includes benefits, automobile, and additional compensation will be provided and aligned with responsibilities/qualifications.
