Xavier University is seeking an Information Security Analyst to assist in planning, implementing, monitoring, and enhancing security measures for the protection of information systems. In this role the candidate will apply appropriate security controls to safeguard the university information. They will assist in ensuring compliance (FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, GDPR, and others), network monitoring, and risk analysis controls and mitigations are in place.

This position reports to the Director of Information Security.  The incumbent will facilitate the delivery of security and privacy strategies that impact the likelihood and impact of identified risks to the privacy and security of Xavier networks, systems, and services. The analyst works closely with all levels of the organization to provide advice and recommendations on meeting regulations, contracts and university business needs related to information technology and services. Major job duties will include monthly vulnerability scanning and report analysis, enhancing Microsoft A5 security protections, monitoring of the Varonis data classification and auditing system, SIEM analysis and log review, and firewall intrusion detection and prevention rules and report generation. The ideal incumbent will exemplify a high level of professionalism, ability to build relationships, confidentiality, and maturity. The incumbent will demonstrate attention to detail and a dedication to excellence in all aspects of work.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications:

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree is required preferably in Information Technologies. Two years’ experience in information security may substitute for the degree.
  • Demonstrated deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse constituents.
  • Demonstrates agility and flexibility to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task with interruptions and changing priorities.
Preferred
  • A foundational information security certification is preferred (Security +,GISF, SSCP, CSX fundamentals or other similar).
