This position is involved in the daily workings of the library, primarily in teaching (providing information literacy instruction; instruction on library resources and research skills) and in providing reference assistance (in person and via chat). The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with diverse user population, speaking in front of groups, have a working knowledge of library resources (print and online) and services, and have excellent communication skills and customer service skills. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides reference desk coverage and assists library users in identifying and locating electronic and print materials and solving research problems.
- Provides information literacy instruction to students, faculty, and staff in formats suitable to class, group operational, or individual needs.
- Collaborates with staff and faculty to select new resources for the library collection, working within the approved collection development guidelines
- Supports the acquisitions, cataloging, and circulation of library materials.
- Performs other duties and completes projects as assigned.
- Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
- Master’s degree in Library Science is required.
- Must be self-directed, innovative and able to assess current operations in an effort to develop practical action programs to improve the functioning of the department.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the ability to effectively interact with personnel at all levels (both inside and outside of the organization).
- Must be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Must be flexible, innovative and possess excellent analytical
and problem-solving skills.
