Bard College Nursery School and Children's Center is an on-campus early childhood center serving faculty and staff families at Bard college and the surrounding community. The schools house a program for 3s and a PreK for 4 and 5-year olds, and follow a Reggio inspired emergent curriculum, play-based approach to early childhood education. The team teacher will report to work daily from 8 am to 4 pm and be responsible for many aspects of the school day in conjunction with 2 teaching team colleagues. This 10-month position will commence on August 18th. There is a possibility of working in June if desired.

Responsibilities :
  • Collaborate within a 3-person teaching team
  • Attend reflection and planning meetings weekly
  • Plan developmentally appropriate activities following an emergent curriculum model
  • Organize space and materials to maintain beautiful facility and age appropriate space
  • Plan and hold parent teacher conferences
  • Document moments during the school day
  • Assemble children's work samples into portfolios
  • Use documentation to write analysis on children’s development
  • Collaborate with team and director on parent communication
  • Help plan events as needed, attend occasional afternoon or evening community events
  • Engage thoughtfully in professional development and exhibit a willingness to grow and learn within the field
Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood education or a related field
  • Vision and passion in the field of early childhood
  • Skilled in conflict resolution strategies, social-emotional literacy, developmentally appropriate practice, emergent curriculum
  • Familiarity with Montessori, Reggio, Waldorf and other progressive approaches in Early Childhood
  • Comfortable working outside in all weather, and be able to meet the physical demands that the position requires
  • A positive and resilient attitude, joy in being part of a functional team, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Google suite
  • Successful candidate must have an up to date physical (with TB test) be COVID vaccinated and boosted, undergo a background check and fingerprinting, among other licensing requirements
