The College of Agricultural Sciences is hiring an Assistant Research Professor. The Rasgon Laboratory has a long-term National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded project on how host genetics and microbiome affect the ability for the mosquito Culex tarsalis to become infected with and transmit West Nile virus (WNV). We are looking for an Assistant Research Professor to lead this project and build upon it in a more rigorous fashion compared to a postdoc.

Education and Experience:

Must have a PhD, postdoctoral experience, and must have experience with the following techniques and technical areas: Mosquitoes, infecting mosquitoes with pathogens, microbiome sequencing and analysis, experience with climate and temperature affects on vector-borne disease transmission, and must have experience working under and be certified to work under biosafety-level 3 (BSL3) conditions.

The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date. This is a limited term position for one year from date of hire with good possibility of renewal based on funding availability and performance. Applicants should provide evidence, either woven through their application materials or as a separate diversity statement, of a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and engagement which creates an inclusive environment in their outreach and research efforts.

Selection criteria: Candidate will be selected based on adherence to the qualification list above.
