Job Description:
The Telecom and Operations Manager manages the telecommunication
and network access services groups in the Information Technology
department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Supervises the Communications and Operations Services groups
•Responsible for the physical plant for communications at the
College
•Responsible for the Telephony Systems at the College
•Works with other managers in the planning, installation and
maintenance of communication systems
•Provides operational leadership and project management
oversight
•Responsible for the data center electrical, security and
environmental systems
•Coordinates activities of outside contractors to ensure that
contract terms are timely fulfilled
•Supervises the maintenance of documentation for changes to the
infrastructure
Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or other
closely related field and a minimum of seven (7) years experience
in implementing complex enterprise telecommunication
technologies
•Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role of a large
enterprise in a campus setting
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and
objectives, and policies and procedures
•Knowledge of related voice, data, and networking
technologies
•Proficient with EIA/TIA and BICSI standards
•Proficient written and oral communication skills
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively
communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in
a diverse community
•Ability to effectively present information to top management, IT
personnel, and District organizations
•Strong project management skills
•Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance
with College’s policies and applicable laws
