The Department of Music at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Voice). This is a one-year, nine-month appointment beginning August 2022.

We are primarily seeking an accomplished and excellent applied voice teacher able to effectively train pre-professional singers in both contemporary and classical singing styles. CCU graduates often go on to have successful performing careers in a variety of genres, therefore significant development in the students’ applied voice studies will be critical.

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate applied voice lessons to students majoring in commercial music and jazz, music education, musical theatre, and voice performance, including a weekly studio class and preparing students for degree recitals. This position may also teach undergraduate voice area or music education coursework (e.g., song literature, diction) based on the candidate’s expertise. The selected candidate will serve as an active member of the music faculty by attending meetings, serving on committees, and participating in student recruitment and retention activities.

Required qualifications: Terminal degree or commensurate professional experience is required. University-level teaching experience is greatly preferred. References will be requested later in the hiring process.
