Position Summary:
The Department of Art + Design at Arkansas State University invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor, Animation to begin August 2022 to teach and develop courses in our BS degree in Digital Technology and Design. The ideal candidate would be interested in teaching undergraduate students of all levels and would have expertise in Digital Illustration, 2D Animation, Sprite Design, Motion Graphics, 3D Animation, and experience in Adobe Illustrator, Animate, Character Animator and After Effects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- 5/5 teaching load
- The position does not require advising, research, or service-related activities.

- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge and experience in the field of Illustration, Game
Design or New Media
• Two (2) or more years of experience teaching and mentoring
undergraduate students
• Excellent communication, organizational, and management skills
that would suggest aptitude for recruiting and outreach potential,
to both grow the program and industry connections to the major
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:
• MFA or equivalent degree from an accredited institution in
Animation, Game Design, Time-Based New Media or a related
discipline
• Excellent technical skills in life-drawing/exceptional
draftsmanship and traditionally drawn character animation
practices
• Demonstrated proficiency in 2D and 3D Digital animation practices
using tools such as Blender, Maya, Zbrush, Unreal, Unity, ToonBoom
Harmony, Adobe Creative Suite (especially After Effects, Adobe
Animate and Premiere), Storyboarding, Web Animation and
scripting
• Demonstrated success and/or aptitude for remote, hybrid, and face
to face instruction
• Willingness to build curriculum and recruit students
