Position Summary:

The Department of Art + Design at Arkansas State University invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor to begin August 2022 to teach courses in our online BS degree in Digital Technology and Design. The ideal candidate would be interested in teaching undergraduate students of all levels and would have expertise in Front-End Frameworks, Back-End Web Development, Mobile Application Development, and Intermediate to Advanced Level Programming experience in Python or related language(s).

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • 5/5 teaching load  
  • The position does not require advising, research, or service-related activities
  • Curriculum development
  • Other duties as assigned



• Knowledge and experience in the field of Web Development/UX
• Two (2) or more years of experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students
• Excellent communication, organizational, and management skills that would suggest aptitude for recruiting and outreach potential, to both grow the program and industry connections to the major

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in field from an accredited institution in Programmer/Web Development/User Experience/Mobile Application Development or a related discipline
• Demonstrated proficiency in back-end programming languages such as JavaScript, MySQL, PHP, Python, Node.js, Ruby, C#, Java, Kotlin, Swift or related development languages
• Excellent technical skills in Front-end Frameworks, DOM, Bootstrap, API development and Database creation, interaction and management
• Demonstrated success and/or aptitude for remote, hybrid, and face to face instruction.
• Willingness to build curriculum and recruit students
