Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties:
This position will be responsible for teaching classes or labs in the Clinical Laboratory Science programs. This position also manages the teaching laboratory and participates in supervision of clinical practicum. The position may also participate in administrative functions of the program to include advertisement, recruitment, applicant review, advisement, collaboration with clinical affiliates, and university service activities. This is a campus-based position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Discipline / Degree Area:
Medical Laboratory Sciences or closely related field
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:
American Society of Clinical Pathology Technologist/Scientist/Specialist certification or equivalent
Required Minimum Work Experience:
Three years' hands on laboratory testing experience in an accredited medical diagnostic laboratory in the last ten years.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Ability to advise and mentor students. Ability to apply the principles and methods of curriculum design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and assessment of outcomes. Ability to work effectively with others in productive ways. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
ASCP MLS certification;
MS degree (preference given to a CLS or biological science discipline)
Laboratory management experience
Curriculum development (traditional and online) for undergraduate MLS education;
Experience in a NAACLS approved program;
Three years of teaching experience;
University teaching experience;
Online teaching experience;
Molecular diagnostics experience.
