Position Summary:
In direct consultation with SU's Department of Theatre faculty, the Artist in Costumes plans and supervises all aspects of costume construction including costume pieces, costume props, hair and make up for the department's 4-5 production season. The position trains and supervises student staff and production crews; coordinates all run crew assignments during technical rehearsals and productions; maintains equipment and costume inventory; provides a clean safe working environment in the costume facilities. The position will teach one course per year on a rotational basis between Costume Design and Stage Make-Up as well as Costume Technology each semester. May also teach advanced topics in costume technology and design through Independent Study coursework.
Required Qualifications:
Master of Fine Arts in costume design, costume technology, or a related field. Master of Arts with relevant 3-5 years experience may be considered. Experience with costume design and costume shop equipment for 3 years is a minimum. Prior experience in an educational setting is preferred.
