Job Summary
Serves as the litigation paralegal and primary administrative coordinator for Earthrise Law Center at Lewis & Clark Law School. Provides a broad range of administrative support for Earthrise staff attorneys, clinical faculty members, clinical students, and the clinic director, including case management, communications, and contact management.

Job Summary

Description of Duties & Responsibilities
Paralegal (50% of the time):
- Prepare and file legal briefs and other court documents at the
direction and under the supervision of Earthrise attorneys.
- Create tables of authority and tables of contents on the days
(and occasionally and sometimes nights) of filings.
- Help organize and finalize declarations and attachments when
filing briefs.
- Organize adobe documents by breaking them apart, combining them
together, OCRing them, Bates stamping them.
- Docketing from earthrise-docket@lclark.edu, so attorneys’
deadlines are calendared.
- Forward legal inquiries from earthrise@lclark.edu, the general
organizational in-box.
- Request books, articles, other media for litigation.
- Download and save online materials from sites like
regulations.gov and various other government production
sites.
- Prepare fee sheets/running attorney hours.
- Prepare and mail courtesy copies to judge’s chambers after
filing.
- Calendar and monitor case deadlines.
- Occasionally make travel arrangements for attorneys.
- Draft, edit, and mail cover letters and other
correspondence.
- Assist with document management, and file system
organization.
- Perform general office duties, including but not limited to
making copies, scanning, maintaining our dropbox storage system,
etc.
- Plan staff and litigation meetings, including seeking agenda
items from staff.
- Monitor email forwarding from outgoing fellow accounts Maintain
case database.
- Assist in some light IT troubleshooting.
- Maintain clinic calendar (fellow and clerk openings and
closings, clerk start dates, information sessions, application
deadlines if we want to require one for the clinic).
- Plan information sessions, including reserving rooms,
coordinating food and catering (when safe), communicating with
student groups (and the Lewis & Clark “announce account”) to
increase potential attendance.
- Plan clerk and fellow interviews Hiring communications during
clerk and fellow application processes.
- Share large dropbox folders and files with clients and students
including summer clerks.
- Run student hours.
- Set class up (zoom, presentations), record absences, verify
excused absences with Co-Directors.
- Create student accounts and ensure they are closed when no
longer necessary Create case selection form and matrix at the
beginning of the clinic year.
- Maintain class presentations and Monday memos, including
distributing them back to attorneys when they require past
presentations again.
- Make basic updates to Clinic website and social media at the
direction of the Development Associate.
- Work with the Development Associate to generate ideas for
social media and website content.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- 1 year of Paralegal work in almost any legal field.
- Ability to organize and manipulate data and formulas in
excel.
- Proficiency in adobe (merging, OCR, Bates stamping, and adding
headers and footers to PDF documents)
- AAS or 1 year certificate from a program like Portland
Community College’s.
- 2 years of Paralegal and administrative or executive support
experience.
- Part-time (20 hrs/week)
