Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Student Organizations Leadership & Development, the Coordinator, Student Organizations is responsible for the development and implementation of purposeful and learning-centered programs and services that guide the various types of student organizations at Virginia Tech. The Coordinator, Student Organizations will be primarily responsible for management and oversight of our student organization resource center, The Source, and our student Engagement Ambassadors. Working through the resource center and with our ambassadors, the Coordinator will assist organizations with resource building, organization development, and leadership development. Supervision of the Engagement Ambassadors will focus on development of personal and organizational skills for peer-to-peer education and mentorship. The Coordinator, Student Organizations will also be responsible for the new student organization process. Additionally, the Coordinator will supervise the Graduate Assistant for Student Organizations.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field. Demonstrated experience in advising student organizations, program creation, working with university policy, and/or leadership development programs. Experience in student affairs or higher education setting. Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion. Demonstrated initiative in creating and implementing projects, presentations, and engagement opportunities. Above average communications skills are essential, as well as, a desire to work in a teamwork-focused environment, which includes colleagues, and students. Evening and weekend work required.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in advising student organizations, program creation, working with university policy, and/or leadership development programs. Experience working with student organizations and/or leadership development. Proficiency with computer programs including involvement platforms, specifically, the Campus Labs platforms. Experience within and/or leading a student organization, or similar type of group.
