• Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of progressive experience
in advancement services, prospect research and management,
development information technology, with preference given to
individuals with experience in a large, complex university or

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Executive Director for Advancement Services
responsible for the strategic design, development, and
implementation of support functions that will enable university
advancement, through continuous improvement, to effectively achieve
its goals in fundraising and alumni engagement.
• Leads the department in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor
and other members of the University Advancement senior management
• Works to develop cross-team relationships between Advancement
Services and other University Advancement teams to accomplish
• Understands the objectives of all teams in the organization and
creates innovative support systems to help achieve those
• Owns the development of University Advancement policies and
processes, along with regular training in policy
• Brings the perspective of other university teams to the senior
management table so that University Advancement is able to work
collaboratively and well with offices around campus, particularly
in the areas of information services.

• Has experience working with Banner Advancement and the
Fundraising Performance Management CRM system for University

• Leads the creation and implementation of a proactive program for

integrated, strategic prospect management program for leadership
annual gift and major gift staff increasing the ability of managers
to increase fundraising productivity and to accurately predict
• This position is the Project Lead for Banner Advancement and is
involved in all decisions related to maintaining and updating the
database. This position works closely with team leads from the
other areas in Banner and IT staff regarding relational database
• This position manages the activities of the Advancement Services
staff to ensure that current and accurate information on alumni,
donors, and friends is maintained, gifts and pledges are posted in
an accurate and timely manner, receipting and daily deposits are
completed on time and that the technology and reporting needs of
the division are met.
• This position makes decisions on areas pertinent to Advancement
Services such as gift processing procedures, alumni record
procedures, report writing and IT job requests.
• This position also helps with decisions regarding the Banner
relational database such as database standards, security, update
timing, etc. This position works closely with ITS staff to develop
new and enhance existing programs. This person will oversee the
testing and approval of any modifications made to Banner
Advancement prior to the modification being implemented in
Production. This position will lead the implementation of new
releases of Banner Advancement and remain on schedule with upgrades
that must be tested and installed simultaneously across

processes to develop and utilize the Banner Advancement database to
assist the development team in meeting fundraising objectives. This
position applies basic knowledge of IRS rules and regulations to
oversee gift and pledge entry processing.
This person will lead the team supporting Development Directors,
support staff and the campus community with prospect management,
prospect research, Banner Advancement, gift/pledge entry and
maintenance, constituent record maintenance, technical support, and
data retrieval requests.
• This position will also have telephone and e-mail correspondence
with donors regarding gifts and pledges made to the University and
