GENERAL SUMMARY:

As part of the Leadership Engagement and Initiatives team in Advancement, drive meaningful, measurable alumni engagement and fundraising activity to support Chicago Booth’s faculty research and learning centers and dean’s priorities.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support fundraising and alumni engagement activities for Booth’s research and learning centers and the school’s strategic initiatives via relationship management, driving fundraising strategies of the Centers, and managing a portfolio of distinguished alumni. Will manage a portfolio of donors, conduct stewardship and qualification visits, and serve as the primary liaison within Advancement for center fundraising opportunities.

 

Centers and Initiatives

  1. Serve as a liaison to the academic and administrative leadership and staff of Chicago Booth’s research and learning centers. Serve as the day-to-day manager of 3 centers, while supporting the fundraising activities of all centers.
  2. Responsibilities may include: drafting communications on behalf of center leadership; helping teams navigate critical partners from centers and the advancement office; managing the agendas and the follow-up actions from center meetings; serving as the expert on 2-3 Centers for the the Office of Advancement; soliciting and entering critical prospect notes into Griffin; responding to inquiries from center staff, and proactively sharing information between the centers and the advancement office.
  3. Manage portfolio of 30-40 leadership annual giving prospects for the research and learning centers. Responsibilities include: identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding center prospects. Target of 20 visits per year and 25 solicitations.
  4. Support collaborative activities between the Office of Advancement and research centers, including coordinating prospect visits, stewardship calls and special event opportunities.

Leadership Engagement

  1. Manages Center Advisory Board/Council activities, including solicitations, renewals, board health activities, etc. 
  2. Partner with Booth Annual Fund Team to manage bi-annual email renewals, and UChicago Giving Day for research centers.
  3. Serve as the primary liaison to the Advancement Donor Relations team, work closely with regional gift officers, and support meaningful donor stewardship through outreach from center leadership, engagement with the centers, honor rolls, narrative reports, in-person meetings, and via other means.
  4. Help maintain the Advancement gift menu. Serve as a proofreader for proposals.
  5. Contribute to strategic plans, policies, and procedures for center fundraising and engagement.

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Bachelor's degree required.
  2. A minimum three years of work experience in customer service, nonprofit management, advancement, donor relations, stewardship, alumni relations, or similar work is required.
  3. Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills required.
  4. Demonstrated MS Office expertise (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), web conferencing proficiency, event logistics, and internet researching skills required.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and work both independently and within a team required.
  6. Work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone required.
  7. Creative and resourceful with strong problem-solving skills and willingness to seek out, coordinate, and appropriately disseminate information to key stakeholders.
  8. A strong commitment to customer service and interest in relationship building.
  9. Ability to work as needed evenings and weekends required.
