Portland Community College is pleased to announce the recruitment of the Director of Student Belonging and Wellbeing - Queer Resource Centers and Community Resource Navigation & Connection position in the new Division of Student Belonging and Wellbeing. This position was created as a result of an all-college reorganization and the successful candidate will have the ability to create and impact change within the College and the Division.

The Director of the Queer Resource Centers and Community Resource Navigation & Connection will report to the Dean of Student Belonging and Wellbeing, and will serve as a member of the Dean’s leadership team as well as the Vice President of Student Affairs’ Council of Student Affairs Leadership Team (C-SALT). The Director is responsible for the oversight and development of the college’s Queer Resource Centers, and a new body of work to develop systems and processes for more intentional and proactive student connections to college and community resources, including basic needs resources. This position will also manage all professional and student staff members working in those programs.

Other primary responsibilities include implementing future state programming goals developed by Center and Program Teams, leading the creation of a student-centered, hybrid service and operational model and defining partnership opportunities with stakeholders across the College and community, including the Office of Equity & Inclusion, the division of Student Life & Engagement and external community based organizations and agencies. Another integral aspect of this role will be deep collaboration, shared goal setting and intersectional work with other current and incoming Directors who oversee Counseling Services, Veterans Services, Multicultural Services, and Women’s Resource Centers | Outreach & Advocacy Project.

  • A visionary individual that develops teams, programs and leaders who serve diverse communities including historically marginalized identities; ability to foster, create, and empower effective teams through clear communication, productive conflict resolution and support of professional development (training, coaching, and mentoring); actively listens to support and guide organizational and individual growth and change.
  • Evidence of skills that use a collaborative leadership and student-centered approach to supervision, making decisions, and guiding student support services; experience building healthy connections, partnerships, and collaborations between Academic and Student Affairs, departments, community-based organizations, and key internal and external stakeholders to advance division and institutional goals.
  • The ability to create, nurture, and empower a productive and effective team during institutional and societal changes; focus on equitable student success and retention and the delivery of inclusive and accessible programming; ability to lead teams and the institution with a student-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma informed framework that supports belonging and wellbeing.
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating programs and/or services that support marginalized communities and the connection to basic needs and community resources; demonstrates the use of qualitative and quantitative data and assessment outcomes to help direct decision-making, planning, and to continuously improve operations, budget priorities, programming, procedures, and services.
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Master’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs/Services, Management, Social Science, or other related field.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination, to include two (2) years of management-level supervision of employees (hiring, assessment, discipline, etc).

OR Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs/Services, Management, Social Science, or a related field AND five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination, to include two (2) years of management-level supervision of employees (hiring, assessment, discipline, etc).

OR Bachelor’s Degree in any field AND seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination, to include two (2) years of
management-level supervision of employees (hiring, assessment, discipline, etc).

OR nine (9) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination, to include two (2) years of management-level supervision of employees (hiring, assessment, discipline, etc).

Position Grade J Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $65,713 to range midpoint of $80,496. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $65713 to $95282 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits
