College of Lake County has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Graphic Designer! This position reports to our Director of Public Relations and Marketing and manages the visual identity of college marketing materials. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the visual components of the college brand, producing a wide variety of graphic design projects and providing artistic guidance and oversight to the department, internal stakeholders and external freelancers. The position supervises the work of the graphic designer and visual communications specialist and is the lead proponent of cohesive branding identity!

Required Qualification
1. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
2. Minimum of seven years of professional graphic design experience.
3. Demonstrated expertise using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
4. Knowledge of and/or experience in responsive web design.
5. Experience in Web/ SEO /email marketing/animation.
6. Possess excellent production skills, strong conceptual skills, and high-level sense of design, layout and typography.
7. Demonstrated experience as a broad thinker who is able to offer a variety of design solutions and has experience.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
9. Demonstrated success with tight deadlines working both independently and in a team environment.
10. Strong creative, organizational, problem solving and time-management skills.
11. Demonstrated meticulous attention to detail in all work assignments.
12. Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Desired Qualifications
1. Working knowledge of MS Office; experience in web/ SEO /email marketing
2. Proofreading and high level copywriting skills
3. Knowledge of pre-press and print processes and AP style
4. Bi-lingual in Spanish and English

Project Leadership: 40%
• Takes leadership in translating the college brand into a consistent graphic identity, developing and maintaining that identity in projects and providing supervision and artistic guidance to freelance photographer and designers (illustration, graphic) and staff visual communications specialist.
• Help lead Aesthetics Task Force to visually enhance college campuses to help create more student-friendly space that tells numerous departmental stories.
• Provides strategic creative direction to integrated marketing campaigns and publications
• Guides and advises both internal and some external stakeholders about both the creative process and client management systems to foster stronger working relationships and solutions that support the college’s strategic plan, mission, vision and values
• Supervises visual communications specialist, graphic designer and interns, responsible for assigning tasks, overseeing and coaching on the creative process and ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of projects
• Schedules, art directs and manages freelance photographers and other creative support team members

Strategic Planning and Leadership: 20%
• Consults on creative endeavors on campus such as signage and wayfinding, banners, environmental designs and interior space appearance
• Lead for digital asset management system, Canto
• Develops and maintains the standards identity manual and its updates
• Develops and maintains the standards identity and efforts for sub-brands when needed ( WPDI, Foundation, James Lumber Center, Advanced Technology Center)
• Provides creative direction on all department materials and website and acts as creative manager for college

Student and Customer Service: 35%
• Creates digital emails and ads for numerous enrollment campaigns
• Lead infographic creative, seeking student feedback along the process
• Manages print buying, supervising process, and does press run checks when possible
• Oversees the graphics production schedules to ensure that projects meet deadlines established by the director and client departments
• Manages graphic services and photography budgets

Other: 5%
