The Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development

(VCRED) direction, the AVCRED works closely with the eight
schools/colleges within the University to develop interdisciplinary
research activities, partnerships, collaborations, agreements and
units-working through other universities, government agencies, and
the business sector. The AVCRED will assist the VCRED in developing
strategic plans and collaborate with the Assistant Vice Chancellor
for Research and Economic Development (aVCRED) in formulating and
promoting polices that support a large and diverse faculty in
conduct of their research, scholarship and creative work at the
highest levels. The AVCRED will collaborate with the VCRED and
aVCRED in overseeing the units in the Division responsible for
pre-award and post-award services, research compliance, and
technology transfer and commercialization.
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T) announces a national search for an Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development (AVCRED) within the Division of Research and Economic Development (DORED). The AVCRED will report directly to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development (VCRED). As the second position in the DORED organization chart, the AVCRED is a critical part of the Division's succession plan. As such, the AVCRED will work closely with the VCRED in developing strategies for growing the research enterprise and addressing other strategic priorities and needs. The AVCRED needs to be an enterprise wide thinker who will bring a strategic, innovative, and collaborative leadership mindset to help grow the size and impact of University research. The AVCRED will be expected to collaborate across the University to create opportunities for, and support discovery and innovation by, University researchers. The AVCRED will have a specific focus on research development. The AVCRED will join N.C. A&T at an exciting time in its history as it sets a record achievement for new research awards in fiscal year 2021 (over $75 million) during its quest to move up the ranks from its Carnegie status of high research activity, in becoming a more competitive doctoral research university.
