The position strategically manages space within the college, looking for synergies and opportunities to reduce costs and increase utilization of ECS area. The position also uses data to identify strategic needs in the College, to prioritize the importance of potential initiatives, to assess the College’s success in implementing these efforts, and to adjust and revise those efforts in the future. Qualifications
Four-year college degree is required. Job Specific Qualifications
Project management skills; financial management; data-informed decision making; laboratory design and operation; personnel management. Responsibilities
Facilities management: Respond to space requests, align budget resources to space improvement priorities, examine opportunities to strategically reallocate space to better serve the College’s strategic goals.
Supervise machine shop and building coordinators.
Strategic planning: Aid in crafting the new ECS strategic plan, looking for consistency, synergies, and (on the other end of the spectrum) competing goals. Help departments in crafting their own strategic plans that lead into the College’s plan.
Determine where gaps exist between available funding and desired outcomes.
Update progress on the strategic plan over time and detect trends that indicate good or bad progress toward achieving these goals.
Examine when the metrics stated for the plan are not adequately incentivizing the desire activities and outcomes.
Strategic initiatives: Work with the College leadership (including Dean and Associate/Assistant Deans, Department Chairs, and staff and faculty representatives) to elicit initiatives that they seek to accomplish.
Help to prioritize those projects, redirect as need be, and merge projects where the opportunities exist.
Monitor these tasks to check progress, and re-assess their prioritization over time.
Aid in communicating progress of these initiatives.
