Open Rank Nursing Professor

Located in the heart of Detroit and surrounded by world-class health institutions, Wayne State University’s College of Nursing, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for leading nurse scholars to apply for tenure-line (Assistant Professor) and tenured (Associate and Full Professor) faculty positions. The new faculty members will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, education, and service. The successful candidates for these full-time faculty positions will have a record of scholarly nursing research and publications focused on issues related to urban health. Highly qualified candidates may be considered for an Endowed Professorship position. The endowment will provide supplemental support for the scholarly activities of the recipient.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct research in areas of interest consistent with the foci of the college.
• Maintain a record of scholarly publications in nationally recognized journals.
• Mentor PhD students (Associate and Full Professor ranks only).
• Prepare, teach, and evaluate assigned courses.
• Use teaching strategies appropriate to learning needs.
• Participate in College and University committees.
• Perform related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications for Assistant Professor:

• PhD in nursing, education, or other related area and graduate degree in nursing.
• Michigan RN License.
• Record of beginning academic scholarship and research in focused area of inquiry.
• Record of teaching in university and/or service setting.
• Record of beginning professional/community service related to specialty or focused area of inquiry.

Qualifications for Associate or Full Professor:

• PhD in nursing, education, or other related area and graduate degree in nursing.
• Previous teaching experience at baccalaureate or higher degree level.
• Strong background in PhD nursing education and/or research supervision.
• Strong evidence of externally funded research.
• Eligible to hold the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.
