Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: August 18, 2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching, Research, and Service. Teach undergraduate- and graduate-level classes in decision sciences, with experience in popular statistical programming languages, as well as competency in teaching applied statistics and business analytics courses. A minimum teaching load of 3/3 is required with primary need on the Macomb campus. The candidate is expected to engage in research and be able to publish in peer reviewed journals. The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to meet the research requirements for tenure and promotion in a program accredited by AACSB; also engage in service activities at the department, college, and university level.

RANK & SALARY: Two Assistant/Associate Professor positions. Compensation is dependent on rank and qualifications and is competitive with regional comprehensive universities. Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. or ABD in Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Decision Sciences, or a closely related field by start of employment. Although preference is given to candidates with a completed Ph.D. by the appointment start date, ABDs will be considered. ABDs who have not completed the Ph.D. within one year from their start date will receive a terminal contract.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred candidates will have teaching and/or research experience in one or more of the following fields: applied or business statistics, statistical computing, machine learning, Bayesian methodology, econometrics, or related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Ideal candidates would also have independent teaching experience, including technology-driven course delivery.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be "in hand" at the time of application.
