Xavier University is currently seeking a full-time (academic year) Elementary I (6-9) Assistant teacher for the Montessori Laboratory School. This position is responsible for supporting the elementary teacher in creating a developmentally appropriate classroom founded in Montessori philosophy that serves children’s unique nature and is reflective of the practices of the Xavier University Montessori Teacher Education Program. Other responsibilities include planning lessons to support all areas of the Montessori elementary curriculum, providing continuous assessment including portfolios, regular written observations, and written reflections as well as other duties.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Candidate required to have an AMS Elementary I credential or be actively working toward such a credential.
- One year of classroom experience is preferred.
- Experience in digital database systems and recordkeeping, Outlook, and Word.
Medical statement to be renewed every 3 years, verification of education (highest degree), statement of non-guilty conviction form (renew annually), 3 letters of reference, child abuse recognition training (6 hours), CPR training – must be 1 year current, First Aid training (3 year renewable), BCI-FBI fingerprinting (renew every 3 years), Communicable Disease training, 10-12 continuing education hours per year to meet state requirements.
