Job Summary:
This position will assist MCC student’s as a ceramicist in the art studio to fire kilns.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain equipment safely during open studio hours
  • Loading and unloading kilns
  • Programming and firing the kilns
  • Help student’s with throwing materials on the wheel(s)
  • Tracking glaze innovatory
  • Managing and assisting varies types of ceramic firing (e.g. electric, Raku, etc.)
  • Aid in keeping the studio clean
  • Ensure labels are on raw materials
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned
Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • Associate’s degree in Art (Preferred)

OR
  • Successfully passed MCC’s ceramic art classes level four ( ART 173) plus direct work experience in a ceramic studio firing kiln(s) and studio equipment

OR
  • High School Diploma/ GED plus one (1) year ceramics experience.
Experience
  • Knowledge of health and safety when firing kiln(s) and maintaining a studio.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have strong and quick math skills (e.g. divide fractions) for mixing glazes.
  • Graphic Design knowledge in Photoshop, Excel Forms, Word, Adobe, Google Forms and Google Slides.
  • The position requires availability to work evenings and/or Saturdays to assist when the ceramic studio is open.
