Location: Brooklyn, NY

Description:
Pratt Institute is seeking a detailed-oriented Payroll Office Assistant with strong analytical skills and exemplary customer service skills to join the Controller's Office team. As the Payroll Office Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Payroll and the Payroll Specialists with tasks for all payrolls. If you can plan and deliver high-quality service to a diverse population, demonstrate your ability to meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal errors, then we want to hear from you!

On a typical day you will be required to:

  • Payroll tasks assigned for our:

    • Facilities Management and Public Safety officers on a weekly basis

    • Part-time faculty on a semi-monthly basis

    • Administrative staff and students on a bi-weekly

    • Full-time faculty on a monthly basis



  • Utilize Paylocity (our online payroll system), Kronos (time & attendance), Colleague, Docuware, and NextGen software (student employment systems), and electronic filing to process and resolve issues

  • Work closely with Human Resources and other campus departments responsible for submitting information pertaining to payroll actions

  • Prepare and process journal entries for submission to the accounting department and final posting into Colleague, our higher education integrated database

  • Perform all other related duties as required


Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma required.

Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years of general accounting, payroll, and/or HR experience including knowledge of General Ledger Accounts and practices. Experience with integrated accounting systems as well as web-based Payroll, Time and Attendance, and related software required; demonstrate knowledge of Paylocity Colleague, Kronos, Nextgen, and Docuware or equivalent systems strongly preferred.

Skills: Must have excel capabilities including proficiency with pivot tables and V-Lookup formulas are required. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat, and demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds are essential.
